That's right, game magazine Enterbrain has officially reported that the Nintendo DS has beaten Sony's Playstation 2 in sales for the month of June, again! Along with a recent analyze, DS is confirmed to be the better handheld system.

Although the Playstation 2 is the king of consoles, it doesn’t do too well when compared to a top-notch handheld device like the Nintendo DS. For the month of June, the console sold 130,000 copies, while the PS2 trails slightly behind with 100,000 copies. The DS has been edging Sony's machine in sales for three consecutive months now actually, to be honest.

In terms of leading game sales, Sega's "Kabutomushi Oja: Mushi King" for Game Boy Advance has sold 220,000 copies, giving it the lead. The Square-Enix title "Drag-on Dragoon 2" comes in second with 170,000, and Nintendo DS rounds out the top three with 100,000 copies for a title which translates to "DS Training for Adults: Work Your Brain".

Well, forget about the games; Nitendo DS has also sold past the PSP as well, which sold 80,000 copies in the month of June.

Also, in a recent analysis about the DS and PSP conducted with Internet discussion groups by an independent company, it is apparent that the DS is the favored system.

The WaveMetrix, a leading provider of online consumer intelligence, is the company that held it. They conducted surveys, polls, 'Q & A' sessions and research firsthand put together by the consumers. The company then grouped the tests into four sections: the range of games available, quality of the unit, costing and screen quality.

The end result revealed that people prefer Nintendo's handheld DS over Sony's PlayStation Portable. Of course bias is always an issue depending on what sites were used in the research to get the consumers, along with age and what each consumer is allowed to be exposed to, et cetera. The PSP system beat Nintendo when it came to hype and anticipation, that being a main issue with Sony and Nintendo being the companies they are, but when it comes down to it, everyone reached a decision that the DS is generally a better system.

After their research they put together tips to help each system improve in its weakest areas.

Nintendo DS tips included expanding the library of games and reducing the number of titles being produced for Game Boy Advance in terms of priority, and increasing quality of screens to keep them scratch free, especially the touch screen. From a technical standpoint, the study found that certain changes to the DS' design would have benefitted it greatly, including something to fix dead pixels and increasing processor speed to decrease load times.

Tips to make the PSP system better include getting better games, making adjustments to fix dead pixels, producing a more comfortable and accurate thumbstick design and a solution to the unit's battery life troubles.

The Nintendo DS seems to have more problems, but they are not at all major issues like the PSP's. Also, when it comes to price, the DS obviously dominated. It seems clearly that the DS is at the top of its game, higher than any other. Keep it locked at NinBit for July's charts!
