Three games. Three million users.

This afternoon at the Science Museum in London, Britain, Nintendo's UK general manager David Yarnton stated that Nintendo has just hit three million online connections through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

After nearly 50 percent of the players who purchased Mario Kart DS took the game for a spin online in the title's first week on shelves, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Tony Hawks: American Sk8land were released, expanding online user connections across the globe, ultimately resulting in a radical growth in the number of online connections. All that in a few months time, an exceptional accomplishment on Nintendo's part, especially considering this is the company's first stab at online games.

This is phenomenal news for the Big N. Not only does this help Nintendo reach their goal of increasing the amount of online users but it also shows the power of the Nintendo DS and its strong library. With only three online enabled games, three million users played online, that is a remarkable accomplishment for Nintendo. With the Nintendo Revolution, set for release later this year, supporting the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection as well, one can only imagine what online enabled games like Super Smash Bros. Revolution can do in terms of expanding online users.
