According to GameSpot, a marketing research company (Infoplant) recently conducted a survey in Japan to see which consumers wanted which next-gen systems. Here are the results.

A marketing research company (Infoplant) recently conducted a survey in Japan to see which consumers wanted which next-gen systems. They surveyed 1000 console owners in total. 250 gamers were in their teens, 250 in their twenties, 250 in their thirties and 250 in their forties. The male-to-female ratio for each age group was 50-50.

The results are bad luck for Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Revolution, because sixty percent said they wanted the PlayStation 3, eight percent said they wanted the Revolution and only two percent said they wanted the Microsoft's next console. This is bad news for Nintendo, as the DS has been doing better than the PSP when it comes to sales. Mostly everyone is just choosing the PS3 because of its name and maker (Sony).

Famitsu has reported the amount of console sales that has been going on in Japan. There were 159,559 GameCube units sold, 1,286,882 Playstation 2 units and 9,045 Xbox units.

Microsoft has decided to hold a promotion for the 360 in Japan to earn some consumers, so this must be a major throw-back for them. According to the survey, everyone is looking for remakes and new titles from previously released game series', which puts Microsoft down the toilet seeing as they only have one console to Sony's two and Nintendo's four.
