Revolution to be Released Last?

During a Nintendo shareholders interview last Wednesday, it was released by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata himself that the Revolution might fall behind in the next-gen console release dates.

While Sony's PlayStation 3 is scheduled for an early Spring 2006 release and the Microsoft Xbox 360 scheduled for release this Christmas, Nintendo seems to have almost nothing to say in terms of a release date for its upcoming Revolution console. After all, the company has not shown anything of the Revolution apart from an early design concept except for detailed screenshots and other media.

One of the few things that Nintendo has said can be found in a comment stating the console will be released in North America in 2006, and various rumors had caused fans to speculate an actual release date of as early as March, around or possibly earlier than the release of Sony's machine. But now Iwata is saying it is possible for the Revolution's release to fall behind the PS3's, which brings to thought months like June, July, August, or even September for the console's launch. A release date that far back will put Nintendo at a possible disadvantage, but the actual date is subject to change multiple times, so one should not be worried.
