Game developers are happy with the software development kits Nintendo has sold them.
Game developers have been buying these "software development kits" or, SDKs to begin work on Revolution games. These kits come with basic hardware, controllers, internal hardware, etc.
With the cost of these kits at only $2000, developers are very happy, seeing as how the PSP, PS3, and Xbox360 kits cost much more then this. Developers say that the Revolution's architecture is very alike to the GameCube's, and so studios who have worked with the GameCube will be able to create their games fairly quickly. The SDKs were sent to the developers in several different waves. First, it was simply a GameCube with a Revolution controller. Second, had a few adjustments, while third had a boost in power, and fourth kits had Revolution internal hardware, and a wireless controller. Large companies expect to have playable demos at E3 this year, and the next wave of SDKs will come in a matter of weeks. The final kit will come in June. The Revolution does not have as much power as the Xbox360, but the developers say this will not matter. Studios that have obtained the Revolution SDKs have stated that the Revolution may be able to sell for as low as $200, or even $150! With these prices, Nintendo may have a serious edge on the competition.
Hopefully, we will be able to see some very promising games at E3 this year.
