That's right, we've got some numbers for you today. For one, the PSP and Nintendo DS are contributing a lot to game sales these days; second, the DS is contributing the most!
Well, to start off with a big number, retail sales of console and portable video games hardware and software sales have risen to over $4.1 billion. The sudden increase in sales is no doubt the work of Sony's PSP and Nintendo's DS handhelds. Over the first quarter of 2005, Sony has shipped out five million PSP units to stores, while Nintendo has sold over 5.27 million units. Which means, regardless to all the PSP fanboys' rants, that Nintendo is clearly still the handheld king.
To add to that, console sales saw a six percent decline to $594 million, and PC software declined 10.5 percent to $405.4 million. Man, what a year it has been.
