Vivendi Universal Games today announced a new licensing agreement which gives them exclusive rights to publish software based on Robert Ludlum's action novels.
In an agreement of which the terms were not released, Vivendi Universal Games has announced the acquisition of an exclusive license to develop, publish, and sell videogames for multiple platforms based on the literature of Robert Ludlum, the renowned action-thriller author famous for a trilogy of novels starring an agent by the name of Jason Bourne, among other works. The first two of his Bourne novels have inspired successful motion pictures.
VU's CEO, Bruce Hack, stated, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to launch a new line of games inspired by some of the most exciting spy-action franchises ever created. The interest in Robert Ludlum’s works is enormous, as evidenced by the worldwide popularity and commercial success of his books and movies. VU Games intends to aggressively establish Ludlum as a top tier games brand with high-quality franchises poised to go head-to-head with other major spy-action games in the industry.”
His counterpart at Ludlum Entertainment, Jeffrey M. Weiner, commented on the deal, saying, “Properties like Bourne and Covert One naturally lend themselves to video games, and we are excited to bring Robert Ludlum's stories to life in a way that has never been done before. Our long-term partnership with VU Games underscores our belief in the creativity and vision that the development team will bring to these exciting new projects.”
An announcement regarding titles resulting from the license will be made at some point in the future. Terms of the contract, as stated earlier, were not released, but it is said to be a long-term arrangement. NinBit will provide any Nintendo-related news concerning the license if any such stories develop.
