As rumored a few days ago, Nintendo has announced a price drop on the DS on Sunday for the release of Nintendogs. Also, the company has revealed the release date for the Game Boy Micro.
As we reported a few days ago, according to cheapassgamer.com (CAD), the Nintendo DS was expected to drop its price to $129.99 for the release of Nintendogs, based on reports from an unspecified retailer. And that has come true, because this Sunday the DS will drop as expected. Ever since its release date, the DS has been doing well, as its sales have exceeded 1.8 million, close to Nintendo's 2.5-million expectancy for the remainder of the year. The PSP, however, is somewhere around 500,000 units sold.

"The new price and the arrival of a mega hit like Nintendogs give Nintendo DS a one-two punch that will thrill consumers. Consumers know Nintendo offers the best in the hand-held video game industry, and this news should make them very happy," says Nintendo's public image Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing.

In addition to that, Nintendo announced the release date of the Game Boy Micro, which was first announced at E3 2005. It is slated for a September 19th, 2005, release date. That's approximately one month from now, two months ahead of Xbox 360. No price has been announced, but according to Popular Science, it will be somewhere around $100 bucks.

Both of these reports were just hours away from each other.
